Ways You Can Reduce Cholesterol
The doctor has determined that the time has come to reduce cholesterol in your system. While this probably did not make your day, the good news is that there a number of things you can do to help make this happen. Here are a few ways to lower cholesterol without making any huge changes in your lifestyle.
The first thing you can do to lower cholesterol is to take a walk every way. Exercise, even moderate exercise, has been shown to reduce cholesterol in the system. Plan for at least a thirty-minute walk each evening around your neighborhood. The walk will benefit your mind and body in several other ways as well as helping to reduce cholesterol levels.
Next, change your habits when it comes to dairy products. If you are used to consuming whole milk, grab the one-percent type instead. Instead of eating ice cream, have a nice fruit sorbet instead. What you are trying to get away from is foods that have a lot of saturated fat in them. While dairy is a great source of many vitamins and proteins, you can go with fat free versions and still get the good stuff.
Third, hold the fries. For that matter, hold the triple layer cheeseburgers as well. Meats and vegetables that have been fried are so high in trans fats and saturated fats that they do nothing but drive your cholesterol through the roof. To reduce cholesterol, go with broiled and baked meats, and leave off the fried anything.
The need to lower cholesterol is a real one. Far too many of us get too little exercise and enjoy eating far too many things that are not what our bodies need. To reduce cholesterol, it is imperative we begin to reclaim our lives with moderator daily exercise and by changing the way we eat. In fact, we can make these changes with only minor adjustments to the way we live our lives. Once we have begun to change our habits, the battle to reduce cholesterol, will already have been halfway won.
